Recently, in mid November, we were fortunate to be passing through Lyonville and stoped at the Radio Springs Hotel for a drink and dinner. This is a fabulous hotel, restaurant & bar, about 15 mins drive from Daylesford, is set on two acres of rambling garden where you can wander. The garden includes mature trees, lawns, perennial beds, roses, and winding paths. It really is a peaceful and beautiful spot especially in the later part of the day on a spring / summer evening.
They usually have live music on the weekends, and on this night we were treated to the Chris Henry & the Hardcore Grass who played just in front of the bar and restaurant. It just so happens they were touring in Victoria for the Healesville music festival and they were amazing! Really amazing fiddle, and mandolin and traditional bluegrass music, which I've never seen before live. Chris is the "premiere Monroe-style mandolinist of his generation", after all.
So, you can get lucky in more ways than one when you visit us here in Daylesford - you might just stumble across one of Victoria's most quirky and fun hotels and some excellent bluegrass music. they also run a courtesy bus
Have a look at the SMH review of the Radio Springs Hotel, and below is a video I took on the night with my phone!
